REP Father's Day 

Repertory Philippines' second entry for this season is something a lot of people could relate to one way of another. A slice of life. This is Father's Day.

Miguel Faustmann as Henry Willows 

From Miong's full cast of around 30, we're down to just 4 brilliant actors for Father's Day.

Andres Borromeo as Matthew Willows 

The first thing I noticed was the stage. The homey, not-exactly-tidy, but definitely comfy set up of Henry Willows' house, which is at some point reflects the kind of family he has -- imperfect. Henry, played by veteran and reputable actor Miguel Faustmann, is divorced with his wife Sue, played by Liesl Batucan, whom he still loves but denies, and has an estranged son Matthew, portrayed by Andres Borromeo, with a goth girlfriend Christine, alternately played by the Coates sisters Becca and Rachel.

Side note! If you're wondering why the role of Christine has to be played by two actors, it is mainly due to schedule concerns as both Becca and Rachel are still students. 

Liesl Batucan as Sue 

It's crazy how the story unfolds leaving touching scenes and humor. It isn't the typical slapstick or upfront kind of comedy. You have to listen to the lines well-delivered by the actors and feel those subtle sarcasm, brutal banters, mockery and irony. British humour, ladies and gentlemen.

Becca Coates and Rachel Coates as Christine 

Matthew Willows started all the craziness in the seemingly peaceful separate lives of his father Henry and his mother Sue. Andres Borromeo made sure to bring out that annoyance and, at the same time, admiration to his character. Who would have thought that the twists and turns of events would make this family still hold to each other.

I just want to point out the wonderful chemistry between Miguel Faustmann and Liesl Batucan. They filled up the stage with their very natural acting and presence despite having only a few actors for this play.
