FlatIron 1771: Beef in Garlic Olive Oil, Four-Cheese Pizza, and more!

It was 2016 when I first dined here at FlatIron 1771. Back then, the colors were just black, red, and white. Modern, classy, yet a little bit formal. Good Food, Good Mood

Fast forward to over a year after. Same name, FlatIron 1771, but the vibe has entirely changed. Aside from black, red, and white, they added a shade of blue (is it turquoise or aqua?) to give a lighter and livelier feel which incorporates their "Good Food, Good Mood" saying.

Aside from the ambiance, they added dishes that are more budget friendly, and also included "solo" serving size option which is perfect for those who wanted to dine alone or with a friend.

New Menu

Here, I ordered some of the newly-added (after re-branding) dishes which caught my attention.

Tuna Potato Skins (260Php)

Tuna Potato Skins is a dish that I only get to try here at FlatIron 1771, and not everywhere else. It is a great appetizer with its crispy potato skin, flavorful tuna flakes, and thick cheese slice that really adds goodness to this starter. You get 8 significant slices for its price which I think is already good given the taste and satisfaction per piece.

Four-Cheese Pizza is everywhere. But this pizza from FlatIron 1771 is really something!! Thin, soft crust with generous amount of good sharp cheeses. If you're choosing between Pesto Pizza or this Four-Cheese, I'd definitely suggest to go for Four-Cheese for that spot on cheese fulfillment.

I love pesto and that's why I put this on my list to order. Gladly, Chicken Fusilli Pesto did not disappoint, and in fact, it's way above my expectation. I know some people who don't want pesto dishes as they tend to be too herbal or overpowering. You need not worry about this pasta dish as there's a good balance of creaminess and pesto taste -- truly enjoyable!

Marinated overnight in a flavorful soy sauce mixture, grilled until glistening, and topped with lots of browned garlic. Served with rice and mixed vegetables

Chicken a la Pobre is meant for one person, but as you can see, the serving is generous that it can be shared by two (just order additional rice). Aside from the serving size, what I love is the smoky taste paired with nice texture and tenderness of chicken meat.

Beef in Garlic Olive Oil is FlatIron 1771's version of Salpicao. It makes use of huge medium cooked cubes of beef, and showered with toasted garlic achieving that savory, garlicky taste. This is another good dish to try!

Brownie Cookies & Cream Milkshake (235Php)

Since I'm not so into cocktails or alcoholic drinks, the addition of Milkshakes in their menu is something I rejoiced about. I had Brownie Cookies & Cream which is truly thick, creamy, and good. Other flavors are Chocolate Malt, Strawberry, Pinacolada, Chocolate, and Vanilla.

I'm one happy kid with FlatIron 1771's revamp! The change in vibe is more welcoming and attracts diners of all ages. A more relaxed atmosphere combined with delicious and bang-for-the-buck food makes it a happy and comforting place to dine in. Change is good!
