Overdoughs: Loukoumades, Beignets, and Cookie Dough!
Overdoughs S' Maison Conrad Manila branch Now Open! |
For someone who grew up believing that doughnuts should have a hole at the center, this recently opened stall at S' Maison, Conrad Manila totally changed my view on doughnuts.
2nd level of S' Maison, Conrad Manila | Order, wait, and enjoy! |
Overdoughs isn't really a new concept or creation, but more of re-introducing the kinds of doughnuts we're not so familiar with. Its third branch at the 2nd level of S' Maison, Conrad Manila, MOA Complex officially opened last October 28, 2017. It is just a small stall where you can order, wait, then go. Not much space to dine in.
Other branches are in Ayala Malls the 30th and Century City Mall.
Choose among Loukoumades, Beignets, and Cookie Dough! |
Loukoumades, Beignets, and Cookie Dough are all great snacks if you're looking for something not too light nor too heavy, yet filling. I especially love the idea of having dips, not to mention that the dip choices are all interestingly great! Perfectly paired with hot or iced coffee though I hope they also have non-coffee choices or at least decaf for people like me (ehrmer-GERD!). I can also imagine munching this while watching a movie, though be careful with the dip -- can be messy!
Love the dips!! Matcha White FTW! | Freshly fried doughs! |
Cookie Dough (160Php)
Deep-fried cookie dough filled with Choco Chip or Oreo S'mores
Cookie Dough |
Cookie Dough is Overdoughs' latest addition. So imagine Choco Chip or Oreo S'mores, wrapped with cookie dough, then deep fried! The result is a crunchy bite outside but soft, sweet, and oozing with fillings inside. It doesn't come with a dip but if you're like me who still opts for a dip, add Php30 for Toffee, Dark Choco, Milk Choco, Matcha White, or Honey Cinnamon, or add Php50 for Nutella. I'd go for Nutella for this!
I'd dip it still! |
Beignet (120Php)
Nugget-shaped doughnuts dusted with confectioner's sugar
Beignets |
I know I had Beignets before but I see it more of a bread than a doughnut. Indeed, Overdoughs' Beignets are bigger and better. Bigger that you cannot dip it directly because it won't fit the dipping cup so you have to slice or tear it up. Better in flavor that even without the dip, it is enjoyable. The texture isn't too soft and leaves you with something to chew on. It comes with a dip and my choice is Matcha White. A bit thick yet totally captures the combination of matcha and white chocolate without being overly sweet nor too earthy. If you are into matcha, their dip is really, really good! This would definitely become your favorite dip too!
Ooohh... Matcha White, I love you!! |
Loukoumades (120Php)
Greek doughnuts consisting of a thin layer of crispy crust with a cottony soft inside
Loukoumades |
Among the doughnuts, Loukoumades are the lightest and the softest. You can still feel a thin crisp on its outer glazed part, but inside is soft and delicate. You can either complement it with a rich thick dip like Nutella or Matcha White, or keep it light with Honey Cinnamon.
Love it with Honey Cinnamon.. even though I'm not into cinnamon |
It was really hard to decide what's my favorite but I guess it depends on my mood. Cookie Dough, being crunchy, thick, and sweet, and Loukoumades, being soft and light, are my extremes, while Beignet is somewhere in between. My son preferred the Beignets with dip, or Loukoumades on its own.
Visit any of their branches and enjoy a different kind of doughnut, different from the usual cake-confectioner type. Ughh... craving for it now...
