Shakey's: Cali Kani Pizza
Shakey's SM Light Mall |
I got excited upon seeing the newest pizza flavor from Shakey's -- the Cali Kani Pizza! I've tried the Scallop Primo Pizza before and I really loved it! It was loaded with baby scallops and kani shreds, perfect for summer season with its ocean vibe.

So when I heard about the Cali Kani Pizza, I know right away that I have to try it, especially it is being offered for a limited time only. Served on their signature thin crust, it is overloaded with kani, sprinkled with fish roe, topped with nori strips, peach cubes, and cucumber bits. Forget the red sauce for now as it makes use of Japanese sesame dressing.
perfect with other Shakey's favorites |
Definitely not your typical pizza, and probably something pizza purist would abhor. But hey, pizza is a great canvas for experimenting new flavors, and I'm one of those who gets excited to try different things once in a while.
East meets West in Shakey's Cali Kani Pizza |
For me, Cali Kani Pizza is very Japanese. It's almost like California Maki turned into pizza. Kani taste is very evident in every bite as you can see the generous amount of kani shreds. I personally would want to have more peach cubes for a more refreshing and zesty balance. The thin crust is perfect for it and I cannot imagine having it on hand-tossed crust. I guess people would have different takes on this new pizza flavor but it would still be best to try it on your own.
other Shakey's favorites |
And of course, enjoy it with other Shakey's favorites such as Classic Spaghetti, Carbonara Supreme, Chicken and Mojos. Carbonara Supreme is my favorite and I prefer it over the Classic Spaghetti. And mojos? I crave for mojos regardless of the dip!
For the drinks, you can go for something fruity and milky at the same time with the Strawberry Milk Shake. It's thick but not too much, and has mild strawberry taste. I find it more on the milky and creamy side.
