Can't believe it has been three years since the last time I posted about one of my favorite pastries -- Macarons! Glad there's a newly-opened Boulangerie22 at the Grand Canal Mall, McKinley Hill. Now my macaron cravings will no longer be that hard to satisfy.

Boulangerie22 is something new to me though I've checked that they already have several branches in Metro Manila. They offer various kinds of breads and pastries, as well as cute cakes. Their branch here at The Grand Canal Mall doesn't have a kitchen so products might only be supplied on a regular basis.

Boulangerie22's macarons are individually priced at Php 39. A gift box of 5 assorted macarons is at Php 195. No savings, really, except that it will come in a nice pretty box where your fragile little macarons will be safe. At Php 39, it is already relatively cheaper than other macarons. But what's best is that they have this promo of Buy 1, Take 1 on Macaron Gift Box. So that's just Php 19.50 each -- fantastic deal! Though this applies to regular macarons only. Not applicable to Pokemon Macarons. You'll only see one box in this post as I've consumed the first box that fast before I thought of posting this. Sorry!

Their macarons are available in six flavors: Vanilla, Maple, Chocolate, Cherry, Grape, and Green Apple. Not sure what the standard macaron size is but these are at 2 inches in diameter, so relatively bigger than some of those I've tried before. I love the meringue texture as it is not too fragile and has enough chewiness, plus the almond taste is evident.

The fillings are enough but I find them too soft that they ooze out with every bite. I prefer it a bit thicker and with more texture. Vanilla is true to taste, simple but good. Maple is what I love as the taste is classic and not too sweet. Other flavors such as Green Apple, Cherry, and Grape are unusual but great additions to their line up. For Green Apple, I prefer it with more zest as the cream stands out more. I initially thought the pink one is strawberry as that is the more common one, but upon tasting, no doubt that it's Cherry. For Grape, it would be cuter in purple meringue rather than something grayish, but the flavor is on point.

In the two sets I got, none contains Chocolate so I still have to try it. Of all the flavors, I like the classic Vanilla and Maple. The fruity ones are also good, a bit subtle taste but enough to recognize the flavors. For a Buy 1, Take 1, this is definitely a great deal! But even without the promo, with its size, flavor and texture at Php 39 each, I'd still buy it. Looking forward to try other Boulangerie22 products.
