Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters |
It was at Ayala Triangle where I first tried Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters. Right from the start, it has left a good impression on me. It's a fast food (or "fast good" as they say) serving not-your-ordinary Filipino cuisine. Now at their McKinley Hill branch, Pugon Roasters has become my default dine-in place for that fast, affordable, and satisfying meal.
Pugon Roast Chicken (99Php)
Signature roasted 1/4 chicken

Pugon Roast Chicken is one of my usual orders. Something to note, this is a totally different kind of roast chicken. It is savory, filled with spices and herbs, and I don't know what else were placed in here but I loved it! It's something I've never tried anywhere else, but I find it well thought of and I can feel Chef Lau's work in this dish. It would be good to try it for yourself as it may or may not suit your taste buds. But for me, I would choose this over any other chicken inasal places of the same price.

Sizzling Chicken Sisig (99Php)
Sizzling Chicken Sisig top |
Sizzling Chicken Sisig is one of the best sellers. It already comes with egg, of course served in a sizzling plate, and has huge serving that can be shared by two. It is not spicy by default, unless you will crush and mix the chili pepper. The dish is flavorful on its own that I didn't feel the need to add soy sauce.

Cheesy Chicken Bites (89Php)
5 pieces of big, crunchy, cheesy chicken chunks
Cheesy Chicken Bites top |
Cheesy Chicken Bites used to be called Crispy Chicken Croquettas. I am not sure why Pugon Roasters changed the name but regardless of the name change, this is one of my favorite orders. They are not really huge, only around 2 inches long and 1 inch in diameter but they are crunchy on the outside and cheesy inside. You get to select garlic mayo or barbecue for the dip. I find the barbecue sauce too strong, but the garlic mayo is perfect! Additional dip used to be free but now they charge Php 5.

Carabao's Milk Sundae Cone (20Php)
Carabao's Milk Sundae Cone |
I instantly fell in love with Pugon Roasters' Carabao's Milk Sundae the first time I've tried it as part of halo-halo. How would I not? It's creamy, milky, and really yummy. You'll know the difference once you've tried it. It used to be more expensive at Php 39 for cone and Php 59 for cup. I usually go for the cup that comes with chocolate syrup and either macapuno or choc-nut toppings.
Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters has a lot of other interesting yet affordable dishes such as Kaldereta Mac and Crispy Dinuguang Isaw. Rice lovers would enjoy the unli-rice by just adding Php 6 to the price of their meal. I'm not sure if it is just a promo but I just added Php 25 to my meal and I already got a glass of iced tea and a carabao's milk sundae cone.
