Shawarma Bros: Beef Shawarma Rice and Lamb Steak Rice Big Bro Meals!
Shawarma Bros |
You've probably tried or seen it in food markets as a Food Truck. Well, no need to chase the night market schedules as aside from their concept resto in Pasig, Shawarma Bros now has a flagship branch conveniently located at Bonifacio Stopover, Taguig.
reminding where it started |
The place is pretty much new, but what I love is the counter/kitchen area resembling a food truck. After all, it's where it started. The walls are surrounded with "Bro" signages: "Share a Seat, Meet a Bro", "Bro Parking Fist Bump Zone", and the likes. But what captures the attention of the customers the most is the collage of Instagram pictures. So if you have used #shawarmabros in the past, don't be surprised to see your picture in here.

With a growling tummy, we proceed in ordering. Shawarma Bros has 3 types of meals: [1] Shawarma Rice Meals (includes iced tea); [2] Big Bro Rice Meals (includes keema and iced tea); and [3] Shawarma Wrap Meals (includes iced tea). Allen and I went for the Big Bro Rice Meals where mine was the Beef Shawarma, and Allen's was the Lamb Steak. As we're both not that into spicy stuff, we had Garlic Yoghurt and Cheese as sauces.

The classic best seller with keema and iced tea

Sumptuous amount, flavorful and tender meat -- now I know why their Beef Shawarma is the best seller. At some point, I cannot picture the usual meat shavings from a rotating block of meat continuously being heated (that's what comes to my mind when I think of shawarma). But when I ate the meat with the veggie/salsa, special rice, and, oh, never forget the Garlic Yoghurt and Cheese sauces (I really love them!), I know it is still a shawarma experience, but at a different level.
Keema |
I find the Beef Shawarma Rice already filling for me, but I wanted to try their Keema. I expected it to have a bit more sauce and spice but it didn't come out as how I pictured it. Just a watch out, the place tends to be cold causing the oil or fats, especially in Keema, to thicken. I can actually opt not to have the Keema next time.

I ain't really a Lamb fan due to its after taste. But this Lamb Steak Rice is satisfying with its chunky cuts and savory meat. It is generally soft too and goes well with my-now-favorite Garlic Yoghurt and Cheese sauces. Oh, and can I just mention I loved their Iced Tea too? Hope they'll have a bottomless version of it.
Shawarma Bros, yo!! |
Shawarma originally came from the Middle East, but with the creativity and will to adapt to the culture of rice-eating Filipinos, Shawarma Bros was able to make themselves popular with their rice meals. Now that is truly a different shawarma experience!
