U.P. Economics Society: Foodgasm 2012

Last August 25, 2012, Allen of Stop! Look! and Capture! was invited as one of the food blogger judges in a food tasting event and competition, dubbed as Foodgasm, which was organized by UP Economics Society. Taking advantage of the perks of having a food blogger boyfie, I was asked to come along with him and get the feel of being a foodie judge.

Mercato Centrale was filled with contest participants all of which are aspiring food business owners showcasing their bestsellers as their contest entry.

Mr & Mrs Brussels Gourmet Waffles : Red Velvet Belgian Waffle with Cream Frosting and Strawberries

Fluffy-based waffle topped with strawberry puree and cream cheese was a delightful combination!

Tofud Sweets: Blueberry Tofu Cheesecake

Very similar to the usual cheesecake, but with a tofu twist. It also has the tendency to be too soft because of tofu's consistency

The Pastry Cream: Quadruple Chocolate

Chocolate in different forms (chocolate cake base, chocolate ganache frosting, chocolate buttercream filling, white chocolate sprinkle) combined in a bite-size goodness!

Flavor Avenue: Bagnet Paella

Tomato, red egg, bits of bagnet, and spices as alternative to your usual rice.

Blue Toque: The Ultimate

As its name goes, it's indeed the ultimate! Multilayered Belgian choco mousse with meringue.

Sweet Home Bakeshop: Butterscotch

Home-baked butterscotch in chocolate chip, mango, and original flavor.

Kyma's Mojos and More: Taiwanese-style Chicken

They're not as crunchy as expected but definitely tasty. No need for gravy.

Carlo's Kitchen: Crunchy Belly

Thin-sliced pork made into chicharon. Crunchy and tasty!

Mad Marks: Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream

Vanilla was great complemented with the bittery chocolate!

C's Mila: Sinantol

New to my palate but greatly paired with rice or crackers. Sinantol is addicting!

Pastry Princess: Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting

What made this standout is its milky frosting. Yum!

Kiera's Goodies: Panecillos

Rolled pastry with sweet ground pili filling.

Bistrology: Arancini

Risotto, tomato, tinapa, mozzarella formed into a ball and fried. Italian craving satisfied!

Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen: Panzarotti

It's meaty, it's cheesy. Dip in bleu cheese, pesto, or pomodoro sauce.

Aside from the food entrepreneurs, sponsors made the event exciting through games, photobooth, freebies, and prizes. I even won a pair of shoes from Kickers and a free meal from Manila Q.
