Ted's Old Timer La Paz Batchoy originally started in La Paz, Iloilo and has been one of the must-go places in Iloilo when it comes to batchoy. Ted's continues to grow and has expanded through franchising in different cities nationwide. And even though there are already nearby branches such as in SM Makati and SM Megamall, I am still happy that I was able to try it in Iloilo.

It was a slightly cold weather and we know we might get hungry on our 5.5-hour bus ride to Caticlan that we decided to eat at Ted's Old Timer La Paz Batchoy located at the Jaro Bus Terminal. The place is quite small and simple, and follows a "Pay as You Order" system. I noticed that aside from the usual batchoy that I know of, they also have miswa and sotanghon batchoy. I decided to go for the usual noodle (miki) for batchoy, and chose the "extra super" version since this is my first time to try their specialty.

One thing to note is that it isn't called Extra Super because of its size; it is mainly on the added ingredients. Special contains pork slices, Super Special has pork slices and liver, while the Extra Super has pork slices, liver, and intestines.

When I saw my order, I knew there were more ingredients, however, the soup still tasted a bit bland that I had to put some soy sauce and pepper to suit my taste. Not sure if it was really designed that way. I still prefer Deco's batchoy due to its flavorful soup, chunky pork cracklings, and additional egg. Nevertheless, I was stuffed and satisfied with my Ted's Extra Super meal especially with the two huge pandesals I had dipped in batchoy soup.
