Catch the visual narrative that celebrates the many faces of a woman until March 30 |
Walking into the Stories & Strength -- RFLXN: The Many Faces of a Woman exhibition at Shangri-La Plaza’s East Atrium felt like stepping into a space where emotions, strength, and transformation came together in harmony. As part of Shang’s Women’s Month initiative, this stunning visual narrative, curated by renowned conceptual artist and photographer Niccolo Cosme of Project Headshot Clinic, offered more than just beautiful images. It invited every visitor to see the evolving roles of women, embrace vulnerability as strength, and find beauty in shared experiences.
One of the most striking elements of the exhibit was the use of fractured mirrors in the portraits and videos, creatively designed by Myke Oropesa Mayores. These mirrors acted as powerful props that symbolized the complexity and brilliance of womanhood. Each shard reflected a different facet of identity, resilience, and self-discovery -- mirroring the personal journeys of the featured women. As I looked at these images, I felt a strong connection, as if each reflection was telling a story of perseverance, transformation, and courage.
Beyond the artistry, Shangri-La Plaza also highlights the importance of women’s empowerment by featuring inspiring female entrepreneurs from its own tenant-partners including BELO’s Cristalle Belo, BRILYO’s Betina Lagman, Cabbase’s Rollin Cheng, Duck & Buvette’s Kathleen Chua, Barbara Lising of I Do Nails, Kurimu’s Maxine Kong, Mia Urquico-Malixi of Mico Boutique, Panaderro’s Kat Erro, Yvette Ilagan of Studio 546, Wobbly Pan’s Trina Hernandez, Brendalyn Ramirez Abengoza of 70’s Kimchi, and Galerie Stephanie’s Rences Abigael Teotico. Each of these incredible women brought their own unique narratives to the exhibit, showcasing the multifaceted nature of womanhood.
What made the experience even more immersive was the interactive element. Scanning the QR codes beside each portrait brought the subjects to life in motion. The videos captured the raw emotions, energy, and unspoken narratives that a still photograph could only hint at. Seeing the movement, the shifting expressions, and the weight of their stories unfold before my eyes was both powerful and humbling.
This collaboration among Strokes Cosmetics, Nudefloor, Pinay Girl Boss, She Talks Asia, and Shangri-La Plaza is more than just an artistic showcase. It is a celebration of womanhood, an acknowledgment of the challenges women face, and a call to spark meaningful conversations on inclusivity and empowerment.
